We have been working with Aspect Maintenance to begin managing the ground floor flooding that occurred last week. The building has undergone an initial inspection, carpet removal, and sanitisation.
Unfortunately, there are outstanding updates that we are awaiting before we can safely welcome community members back to the centre. Therefore, the ground floor will remain closed for the week commencing 19 January, including Golden Years, Wellbeing, and Community Kitchen activities. Bookings for the first floor can continue.
We are working hard to develop a plan of action to restart our programmes, and we appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime. Updates will be shared on this page, as well as our social media and email for service users. For any immediate enquiries, please email info@spca.org.uk.

On the evening of 10 January, Thames Water experienced a burst pipe on Plender Street, which unfortunately resulted in flooding on the ground floor of our building.
SPCA caretakers carried out a clean up on Sunday, and the insurance company representing Thames Water visited the premises for an initial assessment on Monday. They advised that all activities on the ground floor be suspended for at least this week while they:
Conduct a thorough assessment of damage to the affected areas.
Sanitise the affected areas - staff office, nursery, main hall, kitchen, and café.
Dry out the space using humidifiers.
Therefore, all classes, programmes, activities, and bookings that take place on the ground floor of the building are suspended from 12 January through 16 January. Bookings that take place upstairs can continue as usual.
We are working in tandem with Camden Council to develop a plan of action to minimise the disruption to our regular services and activities, and will provide updates as our plans become clear. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to get this matter resolved as efficiently and safely as possible.
If you have any immediate questions, please send an email to info@spca.org.uk and one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
