Golden Years, a fun, free/low cost activity programme for people aged 60+ in Camden. Membership is also free. Register to join now.
We run a variety of weekly and one-off activities that include: Singing, Art History, Café and Pub Visits, Day Trips, Walks, Book Club, Art, Intergenerational projects, Seated Exercise, IT Drop in, Yoga, Bingo, Theatre, Galleries, annual holiday, Museum Trips and much much more.
We also offer a friendly telephone chat service for people. You can refer yourself by email or telephone.
Are you 60+ or know someone who is and feeling isolated and/or in need or telephone assistance? As part of the Golden Years Programme we also have a Community Assistance Programme that offers a friendly chat service for older people. We can send activity packs, craft materials or make referrals to other agencies when needed.

SUNDAY 7th – BRITISH MUSEUM TRIP – We have been given 8 tickets to visit a special exhibition (Peru – a journey in Time). This is a member-led session so please collect your individual ticket from SPCA in the week before Sunday 7th. Meet outside British Museum at 11.20am for 11.30am entry.
MONDAY 10.30am-11.30am FUN WITH CHAIR EXERCISE – Have fun & keep fit. Session run by WMC.
MONDAY 11.30am-1pm COFFEE & CAKE – Join us for a hot drink, cake and a chat.
MONDAY 1.30pm-3pm GAMES – We have 40+ games, cards and dominoes to play.
MONDAY 2-3pm SINGING (not 15th) – A friendly singing sessions for all abilities. Everyone is welcome to join.
TUESDAY 10.30am-12.30pm WALKS (Meet at SPCA) – Walk in Camden, ending at a café. On 2nd we will be walking to one of our member’s allotment plot near Regents Park. On 9th we will be joining All-Ability Silver Cycling at 11am and riding around Regents Park’s Inner Circle on a variety of adapted/non-adapted bikes. Either meet at 10am at SPCA or 11am at St Mary’s Yard, Inner Circle, Regent Park NW1 2NR. On 30th we will walking along the canal.
TUESDAY 10.30am-2.30pm LONGER WALK IN LONDON (16th, 23rd) – We will be having longer walks where we travel to a different part of London by public transport and explore around the area.
TUESDAY 1pm-3.30pm MEN’S GROUP – Join our friendly men-only group for visits to museums, exhibitions and eating out. Sessions are member-led. This month the group is going to the Grant Museum of Zoology, Natural History Museum, National Maritime Museum and visiting Wetherspoons and The Pineapple pub for Thai food.
TUESDAY (26th) 1.30pm-2.30pm MONTHLY IT DROP IN – Learn email, use Google, Zoom or Facebook.
WEDNESDAY 11.30am-12.30pm BINGO – Fun, friendly session where you can win M&S vouchers.
WEDNESDAY (3rd, 10th & 17th) 1pm-3pm RELAX WITH ART – Fun, creative drawing class, run by Working Men’s College. Proof of UK residency required for this session – birth certificate etc.
WEDNESDAY (10th) 12pm-2.30pm BRAHMS AND BEYOND CONCERT– Join us for a concert at the Dukes Hall at the Royal Academy of Music. Meet at SPCA and travel together. We will travel by bus & the concert starts at 1pm-2pm.
WEDNESDAY (24th) 12.30pm-1.30pm MONTHLY CREATIVE WRITING – Friendly inclusive session where we can create a poem or short story together as a group.
WEDNESDAY (24th) 1.30pm-2.30pm MONTHLY BOOK CLUB – Friendly inclusive book club.
THURSDAY (4th) 3.30pm-5pm MAMA NALA: CELEBRATING SUB-SAHRAN POTTERY – Join us for a Black History Month Event at Working Men’s College, Celebrating African Art Traditions. Only 6 seats places available for this event so please book. Meet outside Working Men’s College at 3.30pm.
THURSDAY 12.30pm-1.30pm TAI CHI/QI GONG – Join us for this new session to increase health and wellbeing and strength. Session is suitable for all and can be done seated.
THURSDAY 2pm-3.45pm CHRISTMAS CRAFTS – Join us in making Christmas stockings, wall hangings and decorations.
FRIDAY 11am-12pm YOGA – An all-ability session that can be done seated or on a yoga mat.
FRIDAY (5th ) 12pm-2pm WETHERSPOONS PUB LUNCH – Member-led session, either meet at SPCA at 11.30am or at the pub at 12pm.
FRIDAY (12th ) 1pm-4.30pm CAMDEN ODEON VISIT – Member-led session, meet at SPCA at 1pm or outside the cinema at 1.15pm. The group decides on the film they want to watch.
YOGA – An all-ability session that you can be done seated or on a yoga mat.

Golden Years Programme volunteer role description
Aim of the role
To be one of our valued Golden Years Volunteers who help us run fun weekly/ monthly/one-off activities for people aged 60+ living in Camden. Activities range from Café/pub socials, Singing, Yoga, Art History, daytrips, walk and visits to museums, galleries and theatre. You will make people feel welcome, have a chat and help out as needed. We also provide telephone support for older members.

Ideally, we would like you to commit to 1-2 hours per week for 3+ months but we also have opportunities for short-term, one-off events, day trips and annual holiday where times/days vary and will be agreed.
Saint Pancras Community Association and other venues in Camden such as cafes, walks, day trips and home-based.
Tasks may vary. Not all tasks are expected and can be adapted to suit your interests and needs
- Facilitate groups/joint-run groups with activity leader
- Welcome older people and provide support during activities
- Help plan future activities and events and promote activities
- Take registers for people attending events
- Ensure SPCA’s policies on Covid-19, Safeguarding, Health and Safety are followed to ensure the health and safety of volunteers, older people and SPCA staff
- Report any concerns/ issues to the Volunteer Coordinator
Please note, personal care will not be carried out. All volunteers/ members/staff are expected to stay apart 2metre/1m+ (with face coverings), following Government guidelines.
- Be reliable, friendly and trustworthy
- Good written and verbal communication with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with older people, other volunteers and SPCA staff.
- Able to work as part of a team
- Experience of using Word, Excel and Zoom would be an advantage but not essential.
